I'm only posting this because I need help. Only respond to this if you have 3DS Max and V-Ray 1.5.

I'm trying to get my renders to look something like this: [link]

Notice how flat-looking and soft-shadowed it looks, especially in the mouth area? I'm trying to replicate that effect in v-ray. Can you give me, a slightly cultured n00b, specific tips on what I should do? Thanks.

I have only 3DS Max, and I have to say that may be all you need. I create a lot of effects in it and it is easy. Of course you wanting to use V-ray is good, cause I have heard nice things about it. I just can't afford it. xD

Anyway, the textures are low quality looking. They look like .PVR textures... I love that Bump Map on his body & Head though.

These textures came from Sonic Generations itself. That was the highest resolution I could get them at. I'd redraw them at 4X the resolution, but I'd probably butcher them.

Ok, well, I don't have V-Ray 1.5, but I have 2.1. So I guess I can't talk? Yeah, last year I bought V-Ray 2.1.
