BEFORE ANYONE JUMPS DOWN MY THROAT: Yes, I know I colored over official Sega artwork. This was intended to test my COLORING, not my drawing as a whole. Because that part is still shite.

Here's the story. I finally decided to stop kicking the dead horse of 3D rendering and give digital painting a try. After about a week of reading long-winded tutorials, I put this together, and for now, I think I've put together a style I find presentable, although there are a couple of places where I totally botched the shading, such as the shoes. Hopefully, someday I'll start popping out drawings that are 100% my creation, and 100% respectable, at least by myself.

It looks great, although you could have been a tad bit more subtle with the shading. The darks are a bit too dark, for example in between the spines, and the brights are too bright, for example, on the tips of his shoes. The gloves could be a little brighter, and the bottoms of his shoes are supposed to be gray or white, depending on which game. The same goes for the socks. The gradient could be a little bit more spread out on the top of his head as well. The crook of his arm is a bit too well defined for the style of this particular piece. I really like the way the eye-globe is shaded, as well as the various patches of skin (ears, mouth, arms, and torso), and as a whole, looks really good for a first time coloring test.
